Thankful for Thomas the Train

In realizing that I forgot to include a photograph in my last blog post, I noticed something cute.

Not much has changed since last Thanksgiving ... check out Jackson's toys at Granny Toto's house.

Too cute!

Thanksgiving 2011

Thanksgiving 2012

Fitting ... since at preschool, Jackson's "Thankful Tree" leaf says:  "Jackson is thankful for Thomas the Train."

Gotta love that Thomas!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

2012 has been a fantastic year, and we Heath's have a lot to be thankful for.  In the spirit of celebrating our blessings, this weekend we travel to our beloved Roanoke, Virginia to spend time with family.  On Thursday, my mother-in-law, Victoria prepared us a delicious meal.  We all enjoyed eating and relaxing at home for the entire day.  On Friday, we did a bit of light shopping at Valley View Mall ... but mostly just enjoyed the company of others and "people watching" a bit.  This year was also Oliver's "first Thanksgiving," we we had a good time watching him enjoy the festivities.

There's nothing that beats a laid-back holiday weekend with those you love the most.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Love,
The Heath Family

Mark this in your memory book ... my mom helped with the cooking (a little).  ;)

Paw-Paw watched the game.

Justin did some online shopping (for himself ... hehe).

And I had on pj pants in the picture.  :)
(vegging out)

The Bird!

Happy Turkey Day! (not for the turkey)

Ready to eat.

Not sure what to make of his "first Thanksgiving."

"Where are those teeth when you need them?"

Enjoying the evening at home!

Posing for pictures makes everyone get a little silly!

We hope your Thanksgiving was filled with those things you hold the most dear ... now, let the Christmas season begin!!!

Kinks

Hello everyone!  I am working to remedy a few kinks on this blog, so bear with me if you see a few posts (including this one) appear and disappear. Thanks!

Twilight-a-Thon

Yes, it's true.

We did it again!

Although it hasn't been as long of a time coming, Justin and I were pretty excited to attend the Twilight Saga Marathon yesterday at the Alamo Drafthouse!  I hate the term, but I guess you could assume we are both twi-hards.

So, for twelve hours ... we were kid free ... worry free ... and duty free ... to simply sit back, relax, and enjoy every Twilight film back-to-back ... all leading up to the 10pm premiere of Breaking Dawn Part Two ... and the close of the epic Twilight Saga.

Again, it was bittersweet to see this wonderful fantasy-love story come to an end.

But, despite the awful CG baby Renesme ... it was all worth it!

Four thumbs up from these two crazy kids.

Oliver is Six Months Old!

Oliver is SIX MONTHS OLD! (gasp)

18 pounds, 5 ounces (60%)
28.5 inches long (97%)
17 inch head circumference (30%)

At six months, Oliver:

eats 7-8 ounces every 4-5 hours ... and a bowl of cereal at night
takes only one nap in the afternoon from 1-3pm
much to his parents' dismay, is not sleeping through the night (eating once at 1am)
wears size 6-12 months (snugly) and size 12-18 months (comfortably)
is EXTREMELY LONG ... off the growth charts last month!
sleeps on his belly by choice
is just beginning to sit independently (slouching over a bit)
is OH-SO-READY to crawl ... and can get up on his hands and knees
tried his first vegetable (squash) this month
sucks his fingers (just like his NeNe did)

also enjoys sucking on his toes
loves tearing paper and anything that crinkles
demands to be held during every meal
protests his infant carrier until he gets taken out of it
is still suuuuuper laid back and mommy's "easy baby"
attended two Sherando High School football games this month
thinks his big brother is the funniest person in the world
total . drool . monkey .
poops more than any baby I've ever known ... seriously!
squeals and "sings" all the time just so you know he's around
has been through a hurricane
enjoyed his first Halloween as a lobster
wears size 3 diapers
loves holding mommy's hand -- constantly
thinks mommy's hair is the most fun toy in the universe
is still ... slowly ... earning Jackson's approval

... and fits perfectly into our family!

Happy Six Months, baby boy!

I cannot believe you've been here 1/2 a year already!
You are growing up so fast!
Mommy is proud of you and loves you with all her heart!
xoxo

Trick or Treat

I don't like to spend money on Halloween costumes.

Every costume Jackson (and Oliver) has had has either been off a *super clearance* rack or purchased at a yard sale.  However, this year ... I had a breakdown and let Jax get an "angry bird" costume FULL PRICE!  Shocker, I know!

Therefore, we went trick-or-treating three different times to get our money's worth out of that baby!  Here are a few pictures from our 2012 Halloween adventures at The Alamo, Sherando High School, and the Apple Blossom Mall!

Happy Halloween!

Oliver went as a lobster ($2.99 at Gymboree, thank you).  However, the poor thing is so long that I had to cut the feet out of his lobster tail and turn it into knickers!

There's my expensive little Angry Bird (aka waste of money ... haha) ... but he enjoyed it!  I suppose it was worth it just this once!

The closest I ever got to a picture of the boys together on Halloween ... note: Jackson still isn't a big fan of "brother."

Jackson's first face painting at Sherando High School.  What a GREAT Halloween festival they put on for the kiddos.

Ready to trick-or-treat at the mall!

Nomnomnomnomnom!

Did someone say candy?!?

Looks like trouble to this mama!

Squash Shudders

What better way to start "table food" that during his first hurricane?

With Oliver, I decided to wait until he was 6 months (almost) to introduce "table foods."  So, as we were passing the time during Hurricane Sandy ... he tried his very first vegetable -- squash.

Overall, Oliver did pretty well eating.  The best part was watching him "shudder" after every few bites.

 His first bite ever!

There's the "shudder."

Adorable!

As big as this little fella is ... something tells me it won't be long at all before he'll be devouring all of his fruits and veggies.

Hurricane Sandy

First and foremost, let me say that my deepest thoughts and prayers go out to those Americans affected by Hurricane Sandy in profound ways.  I am so thankful that the Lord protected us from harm during the storm.

On a much lighter note, I give you:
my stir crazy kiddos meet "Frankenstorm" ...

Jackson's "hurricane shelter."

Playing with "brother" in the shelter.

Was he really "playing" or not?  You tell me!

And ...

the 'ole faithful diaper box race!

For those of you who know me ... you understand how very much I am NOT a homebody.  I'm not sure who was more stir crazy ... the kiddos ... or this mama!

However, if that's the worse thing that happened to our family ... we will take it!
