My Version of "1980 Somethin'"

Saw Wizard of Oz at least eight times
Had Dorthy's lines all memorized

And I've seen the stuff they put inside

Nicolodeon Gak

I was Laura Ingles in my back yard

Had a shoebox full of matchbox cars
And a couple of Glen Cove sledding scars
On my right arm

Well, I was a kid when Grandpa died
And my daddy cried....

It was 1990 something

In the world that I grew up in

Blue clip-in hair-do days

Snoop Dogg on cassette tapes

Lookin' back now I can see me

And oh, man did I look cheesy

But I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'

It was 1990-something...
It was dawning of a new decade
When we saw the internet craze

Dad broke down and finally caved

For my red Grand Am
I took the horses down from my bedroom

Watched hockey games all afternoon

My first love was that Tootoo

In them hockey skates

The twin towers fell out of the sky
And the whole world cried...

It was 2000-something
In the world that I grew up in

Girls' Night Out in my Grand Am
Losing weight and smaller pants

Looking back now I can see me

And oh, man did I look cheesy

But I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'
It was 2000-something...
Now I got a mortgage and a new hubby

But all this responsibility
Make me wish sometimes...
Sometimes...
It was 2000-something
In the world that I grew up in
Girls' Night Out in my Grand Am
Losing weight and smaller pants
Looking back now I can see me
And oh, man did I look cheesy
But I wouldn't trade those days for nothin'
It was 2000-something...
1990-something
Aw, it was 19-something...
