PawPaw
This is my PawPaw. I think he's a hoot. You might not be able to tell by this photo, but I did this on my own. I leaned way back and smiled really big. You see, we're already exercise buddies, so we talk a lot. PawPaw holds me upright and makes me push with my legs and try to hold my head up. I'm getting there. Soon, PawPaw wants me to run with him...but I'll be taking my time on that one. For now, I'm going to stick with my indoor lap excercises. I sure think my PawPaw's the greatest!

Thanks!
THANKS Aunt Serena and Uncle Michael!
I just love my dinosaur outfit (Mommy has a secret childhood obsession with dinosaurs too).
You are the best!
My Sweet Daughter
Yes, I have a sweet little daughter too. She is sharing my heart.
And my dad is sharing hers too (this is what Miss Mags did when Dad went out onto the porch). She wasn't game for leaving without me--but she sure didn't want him to leave.
The kids. Maggie is just like a big sis--she just loves Jackson . . . until he starts crying . . . then she's out like a jet plane.

Fox Country
I spent this morning with my bestest friend--the hairdryer. Yes, it's true, it's quickly becoming Mommy's best friend too--if she wants to ever get anything accomplished, that is. You see--I like to "crank" big time whenever Mommy is trying to put on her makeup or get dressed, but the hair dryer can put me out like a light. So, move over Pandora Radio--Mommy will now get to jam to that familiar buzzzzzzzzzz during her morning routine! Hey, it's better than the alternative waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!
Once Mommy and I got ready, we headed to Middleburg, VA to get lunch and do some window shopping. I say window shopping specifically because there was no chance we were buying ANYTHING (with the exception of a Hemingway novel at a used book store) in Middleburg. Mommy wasn't ready to drop $139 for me to wear a blue cashmere sweater with an octopus on the front--that won't be until I'm a UVA student--ha! I did, however, enjoy getting my poopy diaper changed on their bench--take that! (I puked on their sidewalk too)

Sometimes Mommies Know Too Much
Sometimes, Mommies know too much--and thanks to my mommy being a Peds RN, it made for a pretty stinky 1-month birthday! You see, I have severe acid reflux, and I'm on my second medication trial. . .but recently I've been spitting up a lot--a whole lot. So on my 1-month birthday, June 5th, Mommy got tired of "messing around" as she calls it. I projectile vomited one too many times, and she took me to Fairfax Hospital ER to rule out Pyloric Stenosis (which she self-diagnosed as a potential cause). Sure enough, the Peds resident heard my history and ordered an ultrasound to rule out Pyloric Stenosis. Well, turns out the US was negative--for now. We won't be out of the woods, so to speak, until we see how my vomiting progresses since Pyloric Stenosis develops over time. Until then, we will proceed with caution assuming it is simply a bad case or GER. Happy puking everyone!Friday, June 4, 2010
Overheard At My House
Recently, mom and I spend a lot of time together. That being the case, she has said some pretty amazing things about the world. I thought a few merited sharing. So . . . here is my first edition of "overheard at my house."
"Ever since I moved here, I keep thinking to myself 'Betty, you're not in Kansas anymore.'"
-- on adjusting the the way of life in the DC-Metro area
Me-- "Mom, what do you think of this one?" (trying on a shirt in Coldwater Creek)
Mom-- "Hun, I know you're a mom now, but I'm not sure you're ready for a seahorse."
-- I bought the shirt anyways, I am ready. :)
"Jennifer, why would anyone opt to walk down the stairs? You walk up them to get exercise, but why would you walk down? I don't get that."
-- on a girl opting out of the escalator
"Tell me, what nationality are those women with the little bity bodies and the great big heads?"
-- any futher explanation of this comment would not be PC
"Careful! Watch out for my cup! If that thing spilled, it'd be a frickin' flood."
-- on her 64oz drink to-go from Hard Times Cafe
Mom-- "Darn it Nick, come here. Why is everything slanted? Great! I've never done this before!"
Dad-- "What? What are you talking about?" (walking over to the computer desk)
Mom-- "Everything is slanted...see? How do I fix it?"
Dad-- "I don't see what you're talking about, dear."
Me-- (from the couch, without even looking at what she is doing) "She's talking about the italics. She pressed the italics key. Just press it again.

Lake Brittle
We didn't last long thanks to the humidity, but yesterday we took a trip to Lake Brittle. Not only was it Jackson's first trip to the lake, but it was also his first time wearing "real" clothes (other than sleepers and onzies). At 9 pounds, he is finally big enough for one pair of his 0-3 months-size shorts! Naturally, he also tried out his shades.
Sweet Stuff
I couldn't resist adding a few images of Jackson's "special parts." This is some really sweet stuff.

Tiny feet.
